The Canton Community Clinic, a division of Memorial Hospital in McPherson, is a primary care clinic. Since opening its doors in late October, the personality of the town’s Main Street has changed.

Located at 114 N. Main, Canton, Kansas (15 miles east of McPherson on Highway 56) the clinic sits just a few doors away from the Canton Café where regulars stop for coffee twice each day.  According to Greg Lindholm, a Physician Assistant who staffs the clinic every day, several of those regulars occasionally stop by the clinic just to say hello.

Oversight of Lindholm’s work at the clinic is provided by two McPherson physicians, Dr. Brian Billings, Family Practice and Dr. Samuel Claassen, Internal Medicine. While Lindholm is available daily to see patients, the two physicians work half days at the clinic on alternating weeks. The clinic is also staffed by a full-time LPN.

A division of Memorial Hospital, the clinic facility includes two patient exam rooms, a conference room, and office space and storage areas. In the treatment room, Lindholm is able to complete minor office procedures such as starting IV fluids, administering oxygen, intubating patients and suturing wounds.

He can diagnose and treat illnesses, as well as write prescriptions. The clinic is able to offer several levels of service including infants to the elderly.

Lab services at the clinic include doing strep screens, running pregnancy tests, testing blood sugar, testing for influenza and drawing blood.
