Memorial Hospital Laboratory Services

Memorial Hospital’s laboratory offers comprehensive
services and provides accurate and timely test results. The
department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to
complement all in-house medical needs. Outpatient business
hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to noon. Tests are conducted with a physician’s
order only.
 The
department performs about 250,000 individual tests and 20,000
blood draws on average each year. An advanced computer system
that utilizes barcode identification helps guarantee accuracy
and tracking of specimens.
A complete blood bank service is also available with blood
and blood products provided by the American Red Cross Central
Plains Chapter in Wichita. Patients who will need blood in
accordance with certain scheduled surgeries may bank and use
their own blood if the situation warrants.
Common lab studies include:
Chemistry profiles to screen for specific disease processes;
Special chemistry profiles to screen for cancers, heart attacks, CHF and thyroid problems;
Complete bacteriology services to rule out infections;
Screening for strep, flu, mono, RSV, pregnancy;
Department of Transportation drug screen collection and testing, and breath-alcohol testing.
