Respiratory Care Services
McPherson Hospital’s Respiratory Care Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide care for you and your family. It is staffed by therapists licensed in the state by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts and nationally by the National Board for Respiratory Care. It is a full service department providing care to all age groups from newborn to the elderly. The department provides disease management by assisting in diagnoses, treatment, education, and prevention. Specialized testing may be ordered by your physician to determine lung function and assist in disease diagnosis.
Various diagnostic and treatment modalities can include:
- Oxygen therapy
- Life support and ventilator management
- Inhaled medications
- Overnight pulse oximetry
- Carbon Monoxide screening
- Pulmonary function testing including lung volumes and diffusion studies
- Non-invasive ventilation
- Pulmonary clinic
- Arterial Blood Gasses (ABG)
- Chest physiotherapy
- Tracheostomy care
- Respiratory assisted transports
- Oximetry with and without exercise
- Heliox therapy
- Neurodiagnostic Services are scheduled by the Respiratory Care Department
